New Year's Greetings From INRTU Rector Mikhail Kornyakov

Dear Friends!

The year 2023 was a period of strengthening the scientific and technological potential of INRTU within the framework of the University Development Program. Despite the harsh conditions of external challenges and high competition in the market, we have significantly expanded partnerships with industrial companies and universities, making the transition from one-off R&D orders to systematic work with industry.

An important result of the year was the signing and implementation of a roadmap with United Aircraft Corporation, aimed at long-term cooperation with seven key companies and design bureaus in the field of R&D until 2026. Our developments and technologies in the field of geological exploration made it possible to increase the projected gold resources in the Irkutsk Region by 100 tons in one field season, which will contribute to the economic growth of the region. The main impact for the university was a twofold increase in the number of students involved in R&D since the start of the program.

A significant step in development was made by project teams engaged in research and development in the field of surveying, mineral processing and enrichment, and energy. Two scientific laboratories for geo-ecological research, flotation and chemistry of flotation reagents were established with the funds of the Priority Program 2030, which are already involved in R&D.

In 2023 much attention was paid to educational partnership with industry and other universities, development and implementation of new approaches to design and implementation of educational programs and teaching technologies. The total amount of funding for joint educational projects with industrial partners amounted to 113 million rubles.

It is encouraging to note that this year the university has significantly improved its positions in independent rankings. INRTU entered the World Universities Top-1001+ in engineering in the Times Higher Education 2024 international ranking. In the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking - 2023, we ranked 162nd, up 42 positions compared to last year.

I am grateful to all the staff for the effective work on the implementation of the development program of our University. From the bottom of my heart I congratulate all of us on the New Year! I wish health, new ideas and projects, development and prosperity to INRTU!
