Mongolian students will study and live at INRTU with the support of En+ Group

Three citizens of Mongolia have been enrolled in the School of Power Engineering and the Preparatory department of INRTU under the program initiated by En+ Group.

In March 2023, a delegation from the Irkutsk region headed by Governor Igor Kobzev visited Mongolia. As a result of the visit, preparations began for the conclusion of an agreement on cooperation between INRTU and the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia on the training Mongolian citizens in areas of training in the field of energy. A competition among Mongolian high school students, college graduates and university freshmen was announced in May.

Assia Kontrimovich, Director of the Center for International Services at INRTU, noted that the winners get the privilege for free tuition at bachelor's degree programs in electric power engineering, hydropower engineering and thermal power engineering. Three contestants who successfully passed the test on mathematics and physics were recognized as the best. They were also interviewed with the participation of INRTU, the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia and EuroSibEnergo Corporate University representatives.

“One of the contestants entered a bachelor’s program “Power Electrical Engineering” at the School of Power Engineering. Before that, she took a year-long course in Russian language at INRTU. The other two contestants were enrolled as students at the preparatory department of INRTU for further study at the institute,” Assia Kontrimovich said.

INRTU has planned an additional enrollment of Mongolian students for the preparatory course of this program in the autumn of 2023.

En+ Group covers all expenses related to studying in Russia. First-year INRTU students are offered free tuition, dormitory accommodation, and lunch meals, as well as pre-paid medical insurance and migration expenses. The amount of the monthly stipend is 10,000 rubles.

Students of the program will have an opportunity to visit En+ Group power facilities and undergo practical training there.

According to Stepan Bykov, INRTU Vice-Rector for International Affairs, the University has historically paid great attention to training personnel for the Mongolian economy. INRTU graduates engineers for various industries of the friendly country, including power engineering. In recent years, due to the pandemic and the resulting logistical difficulties, the number of students from Mongolia has declined. The University hopes to reverse this trend, including through the support of En+ Group.

“The new project is a wonderful initiative that allows us to solve numerous tasks, for example, to train specialists for progressive structural transformations in the Mongolian economy. It will also help strengthen cooperation between countries and develop new educational and research ties.

We believe that our graduates will join the ranks of talented engineers in the future, serving for the benefit of their homeland and developing the electric power industry. We also expect that interest in the program will increase. In the future, INRTU will be able to accept 15-30 Mongolian applicants per year under this program,” said Stepan Bykov.

Note: En+ Group is a global leader in low-carbon aluminum production and renewable energy. The energy holding's enterprises generate about 7% of all Russian electricity. The group's generating assets are located in Siberia and the Volga region. The key element of the company's energy segment is hydropower.
