International Festival of National Cultures “Siberia – Territory Of Peace and Harmony”
The XIII International Festival of National Cultures “Siberia – Territory of Peace and Harmony” started in INRTU. The annual festival aims to foster interest and respect for traditions, culture and history of different countries among students.
Art exhibitions, contests and concerts included in the festival program introduce students and teachers to the spiritual, ethical and cultural values of the peoples of Russia and the world.
The festival dates back to the Day of Nations holiday organized thirteen years ago in dormitory № 12. During its existence, the INRTU's ethno-forum became very popular. Now it is a popular event among young people, a well-known festival of friendship for the whole region. Today the festival demonstrates the blossoming of creative powers and development of interethnic relations in the university, showing that INRTU is one friendly multinational family, a true student commonwealth.
According to the organizers, more than two thousand people participate in the event every year. The platform of interethnic communication unites students and expands the horizons.
As Rector Mikhail Korniakov emphasizes, INRTU pays special attention to nurturing a positive attitude of young people towards different nationalities:
"Today, 1.5 thousand international students from 54 countries are studying at INRTU, and each country demonstrates its traditions and creative performances at our festival.
We always look forward to this event with great anticipation. The festival has a rich program and gives us a unique opportunity to get to know each other's culture. I wish all participants and guests to have a good time! Let's be friends!” suggested Mikhail Korniakov.
The event featured performances by creative teams of INRTU: folk club of the Russian song “Kalina”, folk club of modern choreography “Shagi”, as well as first-year students of the Baikal School of BRICS. Students from the patriotic club “BM-21” showed impressive fighting techniques. An exhibition of historical weapons was set up in the university’s hall.
The trade union students club wrapped up the festival opening ceremony with a dance flash mob “From Volga to Yenisei”, which was actively joined by the audience – students from different countries, demonstrating unity and spiritual community.
Concerts, ethno-quests and open dialogues will be organized in INRTU dormitories during November. On November 12, everyone is invited to a celebration of Korean culture (White Hall). The opening of the exhibition of art works of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design will be held on November 14. The documentary film “With great respect, Rabbi Solomon Beilin”, which became the winner of the XI All-Russian Festival “Man and Faith”, will be shown at the "Boiling point" on November 18. The gala concert of the festival will be held on November 27 in the university’s concert hall.
