INRTU won the contest of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to create a startup studio for the student entrepreneurship development
According to the Ministry, startup studios will be opened in 20 Russian universities by the end of the year within the federal project «Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship». Over the next three years, 4.5 billion rubles will be allocated for this purpose in the federal budget. This year financing will amount to 1.5 billion rubles.
The project on creation of startup studios is implemented by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Fund of Infrastructural and Educational Programs.
«University startup studios are one of the tools to fulfill the President's order to ensure economic security. 20 best applications were selected. I am pleased that most of them are from regional universities. In these universities startup studios will be launched by the end of the year.
Students and their mentors will work on the implementation of business ideas and develop innovative products.
«The universities will receive financing if 90% investments are made in practical launch of the projects and the implementation of the next investment stage, and only 10% go toward organizational and technical expenses. We expect that the projects will be competitive and will contribute to the economy of the region», - said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The winning universities are located in Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Orenburg, Tyumen, Sverdlovsk and Rostov regions, in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, the Chechen Republic, as well as in the Republic of Tatarstan, Mordovia and Bashkortostan, in Primorsky and Krasnoyarsk regions.
The Deputy Prime Minister also mentioned that these regions had presented startup studios projects in the areas of robotics, agro-industry, medicine and healthcare, information, digital and plasma technologies, food, oil and gas, chemical industries, additive technologies, etc.
«Within three years universities will create a system to develop the entrepreneurial potential of students. In startup studios students will be able to form their applied and practical skills. By creating a business with real investment, young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to test their projects for competitiveness and gain serious business experience in a protected university environment,» - said the head of Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov.
At INRTU, the university startup studio will involve students who are interested in implementing technological projects and study in a variety of university’s programs.
The startup studio is created as a limited liability company and will be located at INRTU Technopark. The director will be Sergey Mayarenkov - professor of practice at INRTU, who has been participating in the development program of INRTU for five years.
Five startup projects will be created at INRTU this year, and then at least 40 projects will be implemented every year over the next eight years. At the same time, the number of NRTU students and employees involved in technological entrepreneurship will be 200 people every year. The volume of co-financing by 2030 must reach 20.8 million rubles.
