INRTU Team “Placebo” Won the IT Championship of the Association “Digital Era of Transportation”

The INRTU team “Placebo” was the leader in the final of the IT championship of the Association “Digital Era of Transportation”. The intellectual tournament, which took place in Moscow on September 18-19, was part of the program of the IX Conference and Exhibition “Intelligent Transport Systems of Russia”. The team led by Associate Professor Alexey Levashev was congratulated by Rector Mikhail Korniakov.

The INRTU team got a ticket to the finals thanks to their victory in Perm, where they presented the best service for collecting data on air transportation with a data analysis module.

A total of 14 teams from Moscow, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Orel, Perm, Ryazan and Tomsk met in the final stage. The event was supported by the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Federal Road Agency, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and other government organizations.

For two days, students developed mobile services and apps to facilitate the work of specialists in logistics and transportation.

INRTU students successfully developed a system of road surface analysis and traffic optimization using AI technologies. The Russian Road Scientific-Research Institute was the customer of the case study.

The team included future urban planner Vadim Gorbachev, IT specialists Daniil Mikhailov and Alexander Kholuenko, as well as participants of the IT Academy program Valery Bobrov, Vladislav Logunov and Daniil Davydov.

Rector Mikhail Korniakov presented a gratitude letter to Alexey Levashev, head of the transportation laboratory, Associate Professor of the Department of Road Transport, for the high level of the team's preparation.

“This time I could not attend the event in person, so I consulted remotely. In spring this year, we formed a strong team, fine-tuned all the mechanisms and correctly distributed the roles.

In Moscow, students solved their tasks flawlessly. Vadim Gorbachev and I helped young IT specialties deal with transportation issues. Vadim also made high-quality schemes for the presentation,” remarks Alexey Levashev.

The Associate Professor recommended other INRTU employees to pay attention to the “Placebo” team:

“As long as our university has such talented students, I recommend my colleagues to involve them in the implementation of projects”.

Daniil Mikhailov, a fourth-year student of the School of Information Technology and Data Science, shared his impressions of the IT Championship:

“I was invited to the team by Valery Bobrov, who is responsible for implementing AI technologies in our systems. I mainly work with databases. In the final we applied all our knowledge and skills. This helped us to present a worthy product. Users can upload photos of pits or other road obstacles to our system. Images will be placed in a database available to transport organizations”.

The next IT championship of the Association “Digital Era of Transportation” will be held in spring 2025. The INRTU team led by Alexey Levashev intends to join the intellectual tournament again.
