INRTU takes part in NTV channel travel show «My Universities. The Future is now»
The project was launched about year ago by Minister of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation Valeriy Falkov. The author of the TV show is Sergey Mayorov, a journalist and producer, a multiple «Tefi» award winner. Each season of the travel-project includes 12 episodes, where a pair of travelers (an adult and a teenager) think about the question «Where to go to study?». They go to one of the universities in Russia in order to show parents and students that the quality education is available not only in Moscow.
The show creators focus on the universities which participate in the national program «Priority-2030». TV presenters get acquainted with the universities and immerse in cities life.
The show crew arrived in Irkutsk on October, 2. On the first day the travelers visited fusion and Roman mosaic master classes. TV presenters and INRTU students made omul figures (Baikal fish) out of colored glass and learned how to make a classic mosaic ornament. The classes were taught by the staff of the Department of Monumental Decorative Painting and Design, headed by Dmitry Dorokhin.
The next filming point was at INRTU scientific base in «Chernorud» (geological site). The travelers got acquainted with technologies of the Siberian School of Geoscience (SSG). This is a unique department where students learn and earn money by creating drones, geophysical measuring systems and software for the needs of geological exploration. Scientific and production developments of the School are tested in expeditions fr om the Urals to South-East Asia. SSG founder Alexander Parshin supervises the strategic project "i.GeoDesign" within the «Priority – 2030» program.
Also, the shooting took place in the Ice Palace «Baikal». Sergei Mayorov tried to understand why people in Siberia like ball hockey so much. He was accompanied by the players of INRTU Hockey Team and Rector of the University Mikhail Korniakov.
According to Sergei Mayorov, INRTU is a cool and serious university. And Irkutsk is a wonderful city wh ere you can get a world-class education. But it is important to remember that every student who wants to become in-demand in the profession should immerse himself in subjects within 24/7 mode.
«I regret that I don't have a second life, which means it's too late for me to change my profession. If I had such a life, I probably would have become a geologist. I would come here and, perhaps, enroll INRTU. I came to this opinion at «Chernorud», observing the work of future geologists. I am a pioneer by nature. And these students are amazing people».
Spectators will also learn about INRTU step studio «Chechetka», pantomime and plastic improvisation studio «Art Graphics». They also will see the university workshops and the enterprise «Baikalkvartsamotsvetovy» where graduates create real masterpieces of stone-cutting art.
The show dedicated to Irkutsk and INRTU will be released in autumn 2022. Follow the program on NTV website.
