INRTU Staff take part in the Baikal Team table tennis tournament
INRTU Staff took part in the first round of the open tournament of the Baikal Team club table tennis team. The competition took place on February 3-4 at the Baikal Table Tennis Center (Irkutsk), uniting athletes from Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Bratsk and Angarsk. The event was organized by the Irkutsk Region Table Tennis Association with the support of the Irkutsk Region Table Tennis Federation.
The tournament participants were 16 teams from different organizations, several schools and enterprises – Irkutsk Oil Company, Irkutsk Aviation Plant, Central Bank, Sovremennik table tennis school, World Class fitness club, etc.
Universities showed great interest in the competition. An employee of Irkutsk State Transport University (IrGUPS) has joined the INRTU team. The team included the head of the department of academic mobility and resource centers Nina Berngard, a member of the Council for Educational Work, rector of the parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh Evgeny Prokhorov, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor of the department of mechanics and resistance materials Evgeny Zenkov and Dmitry Rusin.
As Nina Berngard reported, during the negotiations the participants managed to compete in emotional and paired meetings:
“Participation in competitions of this format, organized by the Table Tennis Association, gives each athlete the opportunity not only to fight for a place and to reach first positions in the finals, but also to improve in every sense of the word, to make the impossible possible.
The level of players at this event is very high, so it was doubly useful to play with strong contenders. I am confident that this year our team will be able to show their skills at the annual interuniversity competitions. In addition, we will continue to prepare for the next stage of the Baikal Team open tournament of club teams, which will be held on May 11-12.”
The second round takes place at the address: Irkutsk, st. Lermontova, 279A, "Baikal" Table Tennis Center.
Note: in 2023 the INRTU team took first place among eight universities in the Irkutsk region.
