INRTU Football Team Won Silver Medal at the Interregional Stage of the “All-Russian Division” Competition
INRTU football team became the silver medalist of the interregional stage of the competition “All-Russian Division”. The tournament was held on September 12-14 in Krasnoyarsk.
The participants of the sport event were the teams of Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk), Transbaikal Institute of Transport (Chita), Gorno-Altaisk Pedagogical College and INRTU.
According to the coach Maxim Orobei, the INRTU team has not participated in outdoor competitions in big football since 2009:
“We got a ticket to the competition in Krasnoyarsk thanks to our victory at the Angara Region Championship, which took place in October 2023.
18 students went to the interregional stage. I was satisfied with the guys - it was the first time they competed at such a high level, demonstrated excellent results and good preparation”.
INRTU players held three matches. They beat the team from Gorno-Altaisk with a score of 2:0 and the team from Chita with a score of 7:1. In the final match, the INRTU team lost to the students of the Siberian Federal University.
INRTU team was awarded the Cup at the end of the interregional stage. Also within the framework of the competition the best players were recognized: student of the School of Economics, Management and Law Andrei Balbin was announced the best midfielder.
“I started playing football 10 years ago in my small homeland in Novonukutsky settlement. I am playing for the INRTU team for the fourth season, but this was the first time I took part in an outdoor competition. The trip made our team really united. I liked the match with the guys from Krasnoyarsk the most - they are a strong team with a lot to learn from”, shared his impressions Andrei Balbin.
Currently, the INRTU football players are preparing for the Games of universities of the Angara Region, which will be held in October. In winter, the athletes will compete in the Irkutsk Region Championship.
