The meeting with colleagues from HIT was opened by Vladimir Smirnov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of INRTU. According to his information, the universities have been productively cooperating since 2019. INRTU students participate in scientific schools, take language courses in Harbin. The workshop “iPolytech Conference: water in the context of global challenges” became a joint project of the two universities. In July this year, the founder and scientific director of the Siberian School of Geosciences of INRTU, Alexander Parshin, delivered lectures at the HIT.
Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of INRTU, said that the Center for Clean Water will facilitate the creation and testing of resource-saving technologies with their introduction into the practice of municipal and industrial enterprises. The universities count on the support of industries and state scientific funds.
“All efforts of INRTU and HIT will be directed to finding a research niche, the development of which will be useful for China and Russia. We hope that the work of our partner En+ Company on the International Water Center and Baikal will be integrated with the activities of the Center for Clean Water. Supporting the real sector of the economy will increase the chances of receiving grants from the Russian Science Foundation and the State Natural Science Foundation of the People's Republic of China (NSFC). However, now universities should show positive experience of joint work by forming research groups and writing scientific articles”, noted Stepan Bykov.
The Vice-Rector of HIT Shen Yi expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two universities would result in effective programs and technologies for the protection of unique natural sites.
“Harbin Institute of Technology highly appreciates the cooperation with INRTU. All our joint initiatives bring positive results. The leading project will be the International Center for Clean Water. Formation of professional research teams will create an organization capable of solving the most extraordinary problems in the field of environmental engineering”, shared Shen Yi.
