Employees and students of INRTU took part in the All-Russian race "Ski Track of Russia"
The traditional winter event has been uniting amateurs and professional athletes since 1982. For the convenience of participants, the race is held separately by districts and cities of each region of the country.
Last frosty Sunday Irkutsk residents were offered to cover a distance of 5 km. The marathon was organized at various city venues, including the Irkutsk Polytechnic Stadium.
The coach of the university team Andrey Vayner-Krotov noted that participation in these competitions is a good warm-up before the regional championship, which starts on February 16:
"Athletes-skiers are engaged six days a week to secure high positions in the upcoming competition. Today we evaluated the results of many hours of training. I am sure that the Polytechnic students will succeed."
The results of the marathon were summed up by the chief judge, senior lecturer of the Department of General Physical Training (OFP) Olga Yalovenko and the coach of the university athletics team Galina Vishnyakova.
Dmitry Peshkov, a graduate of the School of Aircraft Engineering and Transport in 2020, became the leader of the competition.
"I started doing cross-country skiing in my school years. Andrey Vladimirovich Weiner-Krotov, the coach of the INRTU national team, helped me to reach the professional level. During my studies, I became the winner and prize-winner of many regional, all-Russian and international competitions. I think the most significant is the International Marathon in Harbin, where I won silver.
Participation in the "Ski Track of Russia" is already a good tradition that allows you to keep in touch with your native university," Dmitry Peshkov said.
Dmitry Kolesnikov took second place (12 minutes 20 seconds). Dmitry Suvorin, a third-year student of the School of Energy, became the bronze winner. His result is 12 minutes 39 seconds.
Among the students, Sofia Korol, a representative of Irkutsk State University, overcame the distance the fastest (15 minutes 19 seconds). The second place was awarded to the second-year graduate student of the School of Subsoil Use Olesya Onatsko (16 minutes 24 seconds). Veronika Yemelyanova was the third (23 minutes 57 seconds).
Employees of Irkutsk Polytechnic University demonstrated good results. The teacher of physical culture and sports Anatoly Malykhin overcame the distance in 26 minutes and 45 seconds. The result of Associate Professor of the Department of Radio Electronics and Telecommunication Systems Natalia Leonova was 27 minutes 39 seconds. Pavel Kaverzin, an employee of the technical support and repair department, skied 5 km in 29 minutes and 16 seconds.
The prize-winners of the "Ski Track of Russia" were awarded with diplomas and medals of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
It should be noted that every year more than 500 thousand people from more than 70 regions of the country come to this ski race.
