Functional Style (First Foreign Language)
Functional style is a system of coordinated, interrelated and interconditioned language means intended to fulfill a specific function of communication and aiming at a definite effect. It is the coordination of the language means and stylistic devices which shapes the distinctive features of each style and not the language means or stylistic devices themselves. This course covers the main styles in Russian and Chinese languages and their features, includes practical usage.

In this course, students will learn basic knowledge of language styles, it’s features and usage.
The skills you get
- Know the conceptual apparatus of terminology, functional stylistics, linguistic semantics, translation analysis of the text. Be able to determine the functional and genre-style characteristics of text, peculiarities of using various style techniques, depending on the relevance of the text to a particular genre.

- Language styles and stylistic morphology resources.
- Speech norms. Stylistic use of language means.
- Comparative stylistics of the target language and the source language.
