The conference «Baikal Science: organization of production» took place at INRTU

On November 10, the conference «Baikal Science: organization of production» took place at INRTU. The participants discussed the role of universities in the promotion of innovations, the prospects of development of the engineering industry in the Irkutsk region, the use of new software in production automation. Forum was organized by «Innovation: investment engineering» team under the guidance of Vladimir Konyukhov, associate professor of the Department of Automation and Control

More than 10 authors, including students and professors from Irkutsk, Tyumen and Krasnoyarsk universities made presentations in mixed format. Graduates of the university, working in different parts of the world - from New Zealand to Colombia, joined the forum via videoconference.

The first speaker was Professor Vladimir Dvornichenko. He is a specialist with extensive administrative and production experience. He used to work for the government of the Irkutsk Region and participated in the foundation of a branch of «TNK-BP» company in the Irkutsk region. Vladimir Grigorievich told about the role of universities in the investment and innovation development of regions.

According to him, modern science has not worked out a unified approach to managing innovation processes. This problem can be solved by the universities which cooperate with major corporations and produce high quality personnel, focused on the implementation of innovations.

«The intellectual potential of these universities is constantly being fed by students, graduate students and young scientists. Universities of this type should take on the functions of methodologists and generators of new rules and conditions for the promotion of innovative, investment activity», - stressed the speaker.

Vladimir Dvornichenko considers creation of joint ventures, commitment to the cluster approach in hydropower, non-ferrous metallurgy, agriculture and tourism to be an effective tool for attracting investment in the Irkutsk region.

According to Vladimir Grigoryevich, INRTU can become a driver of technology promotion in the Irkutsk region. The team of the Department of Automation and Control at the initiative of Vladimir Konyukhov has prepared a project to improve the innovation-investment infrastructure of the Irkutsk region. It is based on the Strategy of socio-economic development of the Irkutsk region until 2036. The project involves the formation of a database of high-tech technologies developed at the request of enterprises, the creation of the Regional Venture Company and the Fund of concessional lending. In addition, adaptation of the federal legislation in the field of public-private partnership to the regional peculiarities is implied.

The interest of the forum participants was aroused by the presentation of Tatiana Oparina, the postgraduate student of «Organization of production», who made an analysis of the machine-building industry in the region. In the opinion of the author, it is companies of this sector of the economy that ensure the work of metallurgical, energy and petrochemical fields. Irkutsk Aviation Plant - a branch of Irkut Corporation, Irkutsk Heavy Machinery Plant, Bratsk Heating Equipment Plant, Angarsk Electromechanical Plant and others are of particular importance for the Irkutsk region.

According to the postgraduate student, the development of mechanical engineering in the Baikal region should be based on the needs of related industries and have a high-tech innovative orientation. Cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region opens up great export prospects.
