The announced Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest (China) was presented at INRTU

The contest is funded by the Jinan City Government (China). This follows an earlier announcement, inviting the government of Jinan’s (China) participation in the 5th China (Jinan) New Growth Drivers International High-level Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest. The Chinese city of Jinan is the administrative center of Shandong Province, with a population of 9.5 million people and boasts an outstanding international airport. Jinan is not only an important transport hub but also with notably developed industrial sectors such as food, textile, pulp and paper, petrochemical and chemical, as well as metallurgy and mechanical engineering. The city government is interested in the implementation of large-scale development projects on modern and innovative technologies in the region and supports the commercialization of the best project proposals. Funding will be allocated for the implementation of scientific and technical programs and projects involving fundamental research in;

1. Big data and new generation information technology (NGIT)

2. Intelligent manufacturing and high-end equipment

3. Bio pharmacy and medical health care

4. New energy and new materials

5. Modern agriculture and ecological environmental protection

During the presentation, instructions on the application procedure and clarification on project classification in the two possible categories- innovation group (talent level of the participants) and entrepreneurship group (industrialization of the project) were communicated. Discussions also centered on challenges of writing description of projects, application submission and project budget, to which, possible recommendations and guidance was provided by the international project’s office team. The international project’s office provides information and linguistic support to teaching faculty and researchers from INRTU during the submission of applications for international competitions and grants.

The presentation was succeeded with a round table discussions by researches and developers regarding challenges on commercialization of new research products (industrialization of technologies) and how they can be overcome. Core concern was on compliance with intellectual property rights when presenting projects on international platforms. Following the candid dialogues, the forum then came to a close with refreshments served to all in attendance.

Deadline for accepting applications is August 31, 2022, and screening of projects will last until September 10. The preliminary final will be held from September 10 to 20, and the final is scheduled for mid-late October 2022. Based on the results of the preliminary part, five winners with a prize of 30,000 yuan per person (certificate) will be announced in each field of the contest; as well as ten finalists with a prize of 10,000 yuan per person (certificate) — a total of 150 awards.

In the final part, five first places will be awarded with a bonus of 50,000 yuan per person (certificate); 15 second places with a bonus of 30,000 yuan per person (certificate); 25 third places with a bonus of 20,000 yuan per person (certificate). A total of 45 awards are planned.

The main goal of the contest is to search for innovative projects whose leaders can come to China to register their business activities. They will be supported by the Jinan government, granted the right to use the premises free of charge for 3 years, financial support from 1,000,000 yuan to 10,000,000 yuan. All participants of the contest will be offered assistance in finding Chinese partners.
