Summer School of Professional Development for Mongolian teachers of Russian language started at INRTU

At the opening of the event the guests were greeted by Vladimir Smirnov, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs. He wished successful and productive work to the participants of the pilot project.

Anna Kireenko, Director of the BS of BRICS , is confident that the summer school can strengthen cooperation between Russia and Mongolia in the field of linguistics and the promotion of the Russian language:

"In addition, the project aims to introduce the participants from Mongolia to the capital of the Angara region and Irkutsk Technical University.

The students will be taught by qualified professors from the Preparatory Department of BS BRICS. We were pleased with the large number of participants from different cities and towns of Mongolia."

The summer school is on a government budgetary basis and runs until 21 August. During this time, the Mongolian teachers will receive lectures, attend practical classes and participate in roundtables.

During the lectures, they will study the pedagogical grammar of the Russian language in comparison with the grammar structure of the Mongolian language. The participants will be introduced to the methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language and learn its communicative potential.

BRICS teachers will also explain how to teach students correct pronunciation, give examples of game and interactive technologies at Russian lessons, etc.

In addition, an interesting cultural program has been developed for guests of the polytechnic, during which the attendees will improve their Russian language skills and learn the history of Siberia. They will get acquainted with sights of Irkutsk, visit Valentin Rasputin Museum, Irkutsk Center of Crafts and Russian Culture, as well as Art and Regional Museums, including exhibition department "Window to Asia".

On one of excursions guests will be told about the history of East Siberian railway construction. Journey along Circum-Baikal railway will take place on August 5. Visits to the "Taltsy" Museum of Architecture and Ethnography and the Limnological Museum, located in Listvyanka village, will follow. In V. Bronstein Gallery, on August 15, Mongolian teachers will visit an exhibition of Dashi Namdakov.

Purevdorj Tsermaa from complex school of Ulaanbaatar became the head of the group. He believes that the Irkutsk Polytechnic School's courses will improve teaching methods:

"In secondary schools in Mongolia, Russian is taught in ninth grade. Students can then continue to study Russian as they wish up to grade 12.

Mongolia and Russia have a long history of cooperation, so the Russian language is important in our country. Many Mongolian students enter Russian universities, including INRTU."
