“Startup as a Diploma”: INRTU graduate Roman Moroz presented a project of a system for improving the performance of manufacturing companies

INRTU graduate, participant of the “Startup as a Diploma” program Roman Moroz successfully presented a project of a system for continuous improvement of the activities of manufacturing companies. Nina Urazova, Associate Professor of the Department of Automation and Control, is the supervisor of the graduate student.

Roman Moroz graduated with honors from the School of High Technologies with a degree in Innovation Studies. The preparation of the graduate qualification work in the form of a startup allowed the graduate student to acquire the skills set required for managers and administrators.

“The topic of the graduation work is relevant due to the sanctions policy. Currently, domestic enterprises are faced with the task of increasing production, optimizing business processes,” says Roman.

Systems for continuous improvement of production processes are implemented in major companies, including oil, coal, energy, trading, and research organizations.

The information product is based on the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen, and complies with the principles of lean manufacturing. The system is able to adjust the work of management with the ideas of employees.

According to Roman, information programs are expensive to implement in the infrastructure of small and medium-sized businesses:

“They are the ones who can become potential customers of our product. There are 79 industrial enterprises on the territory of the Irkutsk region, many of which are interested in such a system. The project will be an online platform wh ere company employees offer solutions to production problems. I also developed a flowchart describing the complete process - from the inception of an idea, its peer review to implementation”.

Development requires a team consisting of a programmer, a system administrator, a designer and an accountant. Employees will be involved on a contractual basis when customers are found.

The cost of one system will be about 300,000 rubles. To make production break even, 20 software products should be released annually.

During the preparation of the startup, Roman Moroz assessed the risks and suggested ways to eliminate them. Key risks are associated with the emergence of a competitive product, weak customer interest and complex integration with the customer's IT infrastructure.

Experts of the State Examination Commission highly appreciated the startup of the student, giving it an excellent grade.

Roman Moroz plans to develop the project in the master's program at the INRTU and involve students from the School of Information Technology and Data Analysis in the implementation.
