Participants of the Lingua Franca Conversation Club discussed the benefits of multicultural studies

On October 26th Irkutsk polytechnic students talked about the benefits of multicultural education at the meeting of Lingua Franca Conversation Club

The open classes were launched in 2021 at the initiative of teachers of the School of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication. The meetings in the conversation club complement the educational process, helping students to overcome language barriers when communicating on current topics.

The speaker was Alisa Krukova (B2+ level), a five-year student from the School of Architecture, Construction and Design. In the autumn of 2021, the student had an internship at Syungyungwan University (Republic of Korea), during which she designed parks and open spaces. At the club meeting, Alice shared her experience of participating in the academic mobility program.

In teams polytechnic students debated about the pros and cons of studying abroad. Students showed the greatest interest in the game "Choose a foreign friend", focusing on the questionnaires proposed by Alice Krukova.

Artur Cernovets, a first year student of the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, travels a lot with his parents. There are about 10 countries in the student's travel "piggy-bank":

"Vivid emotions and impressions were left by travelling to Asian countries - Vietnam, China, Singapore, the Republic of Korea. That's why I was interested in Alisa Krukova's speech. She said that studying abroad develops self-discipline and professional skills".
