Opportunities for Indonesian Students Discussed at INRTU

The management of INRTU held a meeting with Veronika Novoseltseva, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Indonesia. The parties discussed the expansion of cooperation with scientific and educational organizations of Indonesia, as well as opportunities to attract applicants for education in INRTU.

INRTU was represented by Rector Mikhail Korniakov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov and Head of the International Affairs Department Anna Melenteva.

According to Stepan Bykov, 17 Indonesian students study at INRTU on Bachelor's and Specialist programs. 11 students chose the Baikal School of BRICS, three students are studying at the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, two students entered the School of Economics, Management and Law, and one Indonesian is studying at the School of Subsurface Resource Management.

In 2019 and 2023, INRTU delegations visited Indonesia for career guidance with university applicants and negotiated with universities to establish cooperation.

INRTU signed agreements on cooperation and academic mobility with seven universities – Bandung University of Technology, University of Indonesia, Muhammadiyah University in Yogyakarta, Indonesian Institute of Technology, Christian University of Indonesia, Swiss German University and Padjadjaran University.

“Last academic year five students from the Christian University of Indonesia underwent inclusive study at INRTU as part of student exchange. In 2024-2025, three female students from this university also studied at our university for a semester.

Moreover, last year five INRTU students attended the Bandung University of Technology. This year, two more students visited this university for inclusive education,” noted Stepan Bykov.

INRTU conducts joint activities with universities in Indonesia. In 2024, two employees of Padjadjaran University took part in the Summer School for Russian language teachers. In November 2023, an employee of INRTU made a presentation at an international conference organized by the Christian University of Indonesia.

In December 2023 and in January this year INRTU held a meeting with Indonesian students who came under academic mobility programs. The guys shared cultural values and traditions of their country.

Veronika Novoseltseva emphasized that students who have studied in Russia provide great support to the Russian Embassy in Indonesia:

“These guys are our backbone. They come back with a better understanding of Russia and are thrilled by our friendly attitude. Graduates of Russian universities go into business, government structures in Indonesia, and teach at universities.

An agreement on mutual recognition of Russian and Indonesian diplomas is currently being worked on”.

Veronika Novoseltseva thanked INRTU for the warm welcome and shared her impressions of Siberian nature and Lake Baikal.
