INRTU students take summer internships at companies from the Kaliningrad Region to the Primorye Territory

According to Diana Kopaygorodskaya, head of the university's Career Centre, all Polytechnic students are provided with internship places. This is facilitated by active work with potential employers.

"Throughout the year, we hold company presentations for students and an annual huge event - Career Week. Traditionally, the list of companies interested in interns fr om INRTU is expanding," Diana Kopaigorodskaya stressed.

The university's new partners are JSC Amursky Coal in Raichikhinsk and JSC Sibir - Polymetals in the Altai Territory. For the first time, future aviation engineers from Polytechnic University were invited by V.P. Chkalov NAP, a branch of Sukhoi Company (Novosibirsk), Rossiya Air Company (St. Petersburg) and A-Technics, a Moscow-based company.

ANHK (PJSC Rosneft) became the leader in the number of trainees. Angarsk hosted 75 future specialists in the fields of chemical technology, process automation, industrial management, and technosphere safety.

The second most popular practice area is MMC Norilsk Nickel. For example, the Polar Division received 64 students, while another 12 students went to Kola MMC (Murmansk Region).

Over 30 representatives of mining and geology departments have completed internships at the facilities of the Polus Gold Mining Company.

Kaliningrad Amber Factory, which provided eight students of the jewellery design and technology department with work placements, became the westernmost internship place. In addition, future subsoil users work at JSC Zoloto Seligdara (Yakutia), LLC Amursky Hydrometallurgical Plant (Khabarovsk Territory), PJSC Priargunskoye Production Mining and Chemical Association and JSC ZDK Lenzoloto.

More than 340 students of the School of Aircraft Engineering and Transportation are honing their skills at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. JSC Urals Civil Aviation Plant in Yekaterinburg invited 12 students in aircraft and helicopter engineering. More than 30 Irkutsk-based companies in the Far East - JSC Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, JSC Arsenyev Aviation Company Progress in Primorye, and Yury Gagarin KnAz in Komsomolsk-on-Amur - received more than 30 Irkutsk-based students. Aviation engineers also work at Kazan Aviation Plant and at Trud JSC in Novosibirsk.

The university cooperates with En+ Digital, which specialises in IT outsourcing, development and implementation of information systems, websites and mobile applications. A total of 74 polytechnics have chosen the internship at En+ Digital.

In summer, 200 students work for human rights organisations, law enforcement agencies and tax authorities. Most of them (67 students) have an internship in the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Irkutsk region. In the regional office of the Federal Tax Service there are 48 trainees, almost 30 people work in the regional Bar Association.

A-Technics, based at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, has become a new internship site for Polytechnic students. This is the only organisation in Russia servicing and repairing foreign and domestic-made aircraft. Aeroflot, Rossiya and Pobeda Airlines are the company's clients.

Students of aircraft and engine maintenance were invited to Sheremetyevo after a presentation by the company. Elvira Sitdikova, Alexandra Smorchkova, Ananda Shiribazarov, Gleb Shirokin, Nikolay Lylov and Daniil Stepanenko worked at A-Technics for almost a month.

According to Elvira Sitdikova, a third-year student, the Irkutsk students were assigned to the Central Technical Service Unit No. 2. It is a maintenance shop for Sukhoi Superjet 100, as well as the C-Check area for large airliners. C-check is one of the most complicated types of aircraft condition checks, which is carried out every 15-20 months. The students worked on Boeing and Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft and engines.

Under the supervision of the engineer and shift supervisor, the polytechnic students were allowed to do a variety of jobs. They installed a remote-controlled hydraulic lift under the left half-wing of the Superjet 100, connected unearthly power supply, bolted hatches on the Boeing 747-400. The students measured corrosion levels, applied epoxy primer to metal surfaces and helped their colleagues to replace fittings in the hydraulic system. The area of responsibility also included the luggage compartment, wh ere the student crew bolted up the skin and taped the bolts and joints with fire-resistant glass cloth.

The internship programme was complemented by a class in aviation English, taught by a lecturer from Singapore.

"Every day in the workshop was unique in its own way. During this month we've gained a lot of theoretical knowledge and had a chance to get in touch with automated technology. We were convinced that it is possible to get a job at A-Technics without any experience, but preference will be given to candidates with a command of professional English-language terminology. The company actively promotes further training of young personnel in Russia and abroad," Elvira shared her opinion.
