INRTU Received 6,000 More Applications for Bachelor’s and Specialist Degrees than Last Year

INRTU is chosen by talented candidates who want to study technical specialties. A total of 86 students were admitted with scores above 249 points. The score includes results from the Unified State Exam (USE) and individual achievements. This was reported by the head of the Admissions Department, Natalia Vostrikova.

It should be reminded that on August 4th, the INRTU successfully completed the admissions campaign for full-time bachelor’s and specialist programs. 1,413 people were enrolled in the budget-funded places. INRTU has significantly improved the quality of admission - the average USE score reached 67.8, while last year it was 63.3. In total, 19,000 applications were submitted for bachelor’s and specialist degrees by 5,000 applicants, compared to 12,900 last year.

According to Natalia Vostrikova, high-scoring candidates were interested in English-language programs in computer science, information security, oil and gas engineering, aircraft and helicopter engineering, automation of technological processes and production, construction, and humanities.

For talented candidates, INRTU has prepared special benefits. Students who scored 210-249 points on the USE are offered free breakfasts throughout the academic year, a gym membership, participation in travel grants, and additional education courses. These same benefits will be available to students with 250-300 points on the USE and those who entered without exams based on the results of Academic Competitions (Olympiads). In addition, these students will receive a substantial scholarship, which will be paid until the end of 2024, and free transportation to one of the youth forums.

Natalia Vostrikova emphasized that attracting a large number of high-scoring students was possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of the university staff:

"The INRTU’s call center individually acquainted each high-scoring applicant with the opportunities offered by the university.

Industrial partners played a major role in the admission campaign. This once again confirms the interest of the country's largest companies in the qualified personnel trained by the INRTU."

The En+ company was particularly active in recruiting applicants, conducting extensive informational work on various platforms. At the initiative of En+, future students visited the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station, and every hundredth applicant of the School of Power Engineering received branded gifts. More than 1,000 people were interested in enrolling in the School of Power Engineering. The passing score for energy specialties increased by almost 20%. If in 2023 the passing score for “Thermal Power Engineering” was 134 points and 138 points for “Electrical Power Engineering,” this year the score reached 157 and 161 points, respectively.

"Our industrial partners attracted applicants through social networks and media, and organized mailings to corporate emails," added Natalia Vostrikova.

We note that until August 20th, INRTU continues to enroll students on a commercial basis for full-time and part-time forms of study (bachelor’s and specialist programs). Original documents from those wishing to enter the master’s program are accepted until August 24th. Enrollment of graduate students and applicants for secondary vocational education ends on August 17th.

Documents by Russian citizens can be submitted in person or remotely: via the service of the Gosuslugi portal, the personal account on the university website, or by mail to the address: Irkutsk, Lermontova St., 83.
