Good Employment Prospects for Graduates from School of Subsurface Resource Management

The solemn Diploma Presentation for graduates of School of Subsurface Resource Management took place in the Assembly Hall of the University. 238 master and bachelor students (68 — excellent students) have graduated fr om INRTU.

The Ceremony started with performances by the ethnic percussion studio «Ethnobit» and the folk ensemble «Poi, Friend!» of the Center for Cultural, Mass and Educational Work.
Welcoming the graduates, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vladimir Smirnov noted that the majors of the mining and metallurgical profile are the foundations of engineering education in INRTU.
Ivan Kolpakov, Deputy Governor of the Angara region, thanked the University management for high-quality training of young specialists. He said that specialized training is the key to stability and a successful future of the region.

Pavel Shkitin, Director of the Gazprom Invest Irkutsk branch, joined the congratulations. He said that in 2022 it is planned to launch the first gas pipeline to export gas to China from the Kovyktinskoye field, the largest in Western Siberia.

«We will need the new working personnel. Feel free to come for an job interview in Gazprom. There are 150 vacancies available in our branch alone. Getting a job in a company is not as difficult as it seems. In 2004 I graduated from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. On the Graduation Ceremony, I announced my candidacy to a „Gazprom“ representative, and the following day I’ve already received an invitation to work.»

Kovykta Project Manager (Orenburg Drilling branch of Gazprom Drilling LLC) Dmitry Karaulsky stressed the high training level of INRTU subsoil users. According to his opinion, six INRTU students practiced branch last year, and eight more INRTU students are honing their professional skills in the new season. For each of them, the work internship will become a «guaranteed ticket for employment.»

«I strongly believe that graduates of Irkutsk Polytechnic University will make an invaluable contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry in the Irkutsk region and the whole Russia as well. We are waiting for you in the ranks of our company," Dmitry Karaulsky said.

Graduation Ceremony became a personal holiday for the managing director of the Polyus Aldan Gold Mining Enterprise Alexey Noskov. Graduating from INRTU in 1987, he accidentally did not receive a «rhombus» — an academic badge that was prepared for all graduates of Irkutsk Polytechnic University. Historical justice was restored 35 years later. Alexey Noskov began his career at the Yuzhnokuzbassky Production Association, having worked his way up from the driver of mining machines to the head of the site. He worked at the Nezhdaninsky gold deposit in Yakutia. For the last seven years, he has been heading Polyus Aldan. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland (II degree).

Appealing to the graduates, Alexey Noskov stressed that he represents Polyus Group, the world’s leading gold mining company. The company has branches in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Yakutia, Magadan and the Angara region. In the nearest five years, the production facilities of Sukhoi Log — the world’s largest gold deposit — will be launched.

«We are waiting for you, regardless of major you have chosen. Remember that your diploma gives you the right to manage people. On a working place you have to be responsible for the safety of subordinates. If you treat them with respect and care, they will respond to you with conscientious work," said Alexey Noskov.

Representatives of Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk, RN-Drilling, Sib-Trans-Petroil and Urgalugol also addressed warm words to the graduates.

Director of the School of Subsurface Resource Management Alexey Shevchenko thanked teachers, employers and graduates’ relatives for the support. He believes that with a diploma, the learning process does not end, because you need to develop all your life:

«I hope that you will return to your native university to improve your qualifications, retrain or share your experience with new students.»

At the graduation ceremony, the winners of the «TOP 100 Graduates» competition were separately noted. Among them there are Alyona Bykova, Vlada Pyatkova, Victoria Vasilyeva, Alina Ineshina, Chingiz Kakabaev and Mikhail Semykin. The Polytechnic students proved themselves in Science, Culture, and Sports. Each of them received a letter of recommendation on behalf of Rector Mikhail Kornyakov.

For example, Chingiz, as part of the volleyball team, was in the lead at the ACCC Tournament of the Russian Federation. Two years later, he repeated the result, then succeeded in streetball. He successfully played for the Irkutsk Polytech hockey team. In parallel with his studies at the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering, he studied at the Military Training Center.

Vlada Pyatkova with major «Operation and maintenance of oil production facilities», also entered the TOP 100. She participated in the forums «Baikal» and «Islands» (Sakhalin), became a prize-winner of the regional competition «Student of the Year», the conference «Geosciences-2022». Vlada organized scientific and practical conferences as part of the scientific society «Carbon» under the leadership of Professor Nikolai Konovalov. She completed an internship in Rosneft and INC LLC. In June, she presented an excellent Thesis devoted to evaluating the effectiveness of the introduction of GTL technology on the example of the Verkhnechonskoye oil and gas condensate fields.

A talented graduate received a job offer from the companies Verkhnechonskneftegaz and Taas-Yuryakh (Rosneft). As Vlada emphasized, she is preparing for Master program in INRTU and is thinking over the working place.

Alina Zherandoeva was awarded with the Honor Diploma. In spring, she completed a pre-graduate internship at the chemical analysis laboratory of the Irkutsk Oil Company, wh ere she will begin her career as an operator. Working with chromatographic equipment, Alina independently identified a production problem. It consisted in the increased content of mercoptan (sulfur compound) in the raw materials coming from the Bolshetirskoye oil field. Then Alina developed a technology that allows to improve the oil quality by extracting mercoptan and hydrogen sulfide.

«I am grateful to the scientific supervisor Elvira Shakirova for believing in me, supporting my development. The result was a technology that we intend to patent. I plan to introduce and improve the methodology already in production process," Alina explained.
