INRTU International Affairs Department invites you to participate in the Distance Learning Program 2022 with live-streamed Course of CERGE-EI Foundation courses. The goal of the CERGE-EI Foundation is to drive up the standard of economics education in Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union.

In the spring of 2022, the CERGE-EI Foundation in collaboration with INRTU, launches a DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM for the following courses:

FINANCIAL Markets

Leading lecturer: Gabriela Kuvikova, PhD., CERGE-EI

SCHEDULE: Tuesday, Friday 15.00 - 16.30 Irkutsk time.

Description of the Course: The purpose of the course is to provide a basic understanding of the modern changing landscape of financial markets and institutions. Students will learn the key fundamentals of financial markets and learn how financial institutions work. We will discuss interest rates and their role in valuation, learn about the efficient market hypothesis and the determination of the exchange rate, study money and capital markets, identify various players in the financial industry and consider risk management in financial institutions.

Recommended minimum requirements: Microeconomics at the beginner-level


BEHAVIORAL Economics

Leading lecturer: Daria Korlyakova, MA, CERGE-EI

SCHEDULE: Monday, Thursday 16.00 - 17.30 Irkutsk time.

Description of the Course: The purpose of the course is to introduce the students to the basics of behavioral theories and empirical methods of hypothesis testing.

After successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

-- understand the conceptual foundations of behavioral economics and its tools;

-- apply the knowledge of psychology in forecasting and analyzing economic decision-making

-- critically evaluate the assumptions of economic theory.

Recommended minimum requirements: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Statistics at the beginner- level.


ENERGY ECONOMICS and ENVIRONMENTAL AGENDA

Leading teacher: doc. Sylvester Van Coten, CERGE-EI

SCHEDULE: Wednesday, Friday 16.30 - 18.00 Irkutsk time

Description of the Course: New technologies and renewable energy sources are changing the energy industry. New climate policies are having an increasing impact on the economy and the functioning of energy systems and the electric power industry. The purpose of the course is to give a deeper theoretical understanding of economic externalities, such as global warming and others. The course examines the experience gained so far in the electric power industry, which has been influenced by new technologies and climate policy. Students will also gain knowledge to assess the impacts (challenges and opportunities) that climate policy will have on the electricity industry.

Recommended minimum requirements: Microeconomics, in particular, topics of consumption, production, supply and demand.
