The master's program combines fundamental training in electrical and structural materials science, as well as the production and operation of cable and wire products. The program is being implemented in cooperation with the OJSC Irkutskkabel plant. The educational process is organized in close connection with production. Along with the teaching staff of IRNITU, leading scientists from the Institute of Energy Systems named after V.I. L.A. Melent'ev SB RAS, highly qualified specialists, leading specialists of OJSC Irkutskkabel, together with whom educational and methodological materials are developed, taking into account specific tasks and production problems.
Within the framework of training specialists of this profile, the following are considered: Physics and chemistry of electrical materials; Electrical properties of polymers; High voltage engineering and physics; Diagnostics of cable lines; Electrical insulating, cable and condenser technology; Technology of development, production and exploitation of materials; electrical insulation, cable and capacitor technology; Reliability of electrical power systems.

The acquired basic professional skills are the basis for successful further professional development and career building. Graduates work in positions requiring high qualifications in the production of electrical materials and cable products, as well as the operation of electrical networks. Graduates of the master's program can continue their studies in full-time and part-time postgraduate studies at INRTU, in ISEM SB RAS (L.A. Melentiev Energy Systems Institute, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) and other scientific and educational organizations.
