Department of Physical Education
Our Compelling Advantages
The activities of the department are focus on involving students in physical activity and sports and healthy lifestyles promotion. The Athletic Club of the department provides students with the opportunity to improve their sportsmanship while studying at the university.
The department conducts courses on Physical Education and Sports, as well as elective courses on Physical Education and Sports for all undergraduate students.
Besides, the department has a postgraduate program that carries out educational activities in the field of Physical Education and Sports (49.06.01).
In 2021, the department together with the University Training and Career Center launched a program of professional retraining with the coach professional qualification that gives an opportunity to teach courses on Physical Education and Sports.
About the Department on Physical Education
The Department on Physical Education was founded at Irkutsk Polytechnic Institute (former name of INRTU) in 1949.
The department implements elective courses in physical culture and sports. Additionally, the publish tutorials and textbooks on the disciplines of the department regularly.
The professors of the department teach students, organize and conduct research:

- Doctor of medical sciences M. Kolokol’tsev
Depending on the functional group of health, gender, an appropriate sports classification, and personal interests, INRTU students select one of the following elective courses:
